THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As an Analytics Engineer (all genders) in the Zalando Offprice Data Platform Team, you will support the functions of supply, content production, outlets and markets. You will be responsible for driving the design, development, maintenance, testing and improvement of data processes and the resulting data products. 


You will work closely with a diverse set of stakeholders, developing a comprehensive understanding of their daily business operations and acquiring valuable business insights. 


You will leverage your knowledge and communication skills to transform business needs into refined data requirements, creating adaptable and scalable data products that cater to evolving business demands.

You ensure stakeholders access pertinent information to guide their business decisions, enhancing customer experiences to the optimum level. This means you create data products that, for example, enable:

  • Supply functions  to identify unmatched money-for-value offers from our suppliers with ease.

  • Markets function to uncover unique needs and preferences of local customers and differing market landscapes to deepen customer relationships

  • CCS to connect written and creative content with the needs and preferences of our customers to cultivate customer engagement and loyalty to the Zalando Lounge brand. 

The technical scope covers large-scale batch processing pipelines, data modelling, Data Warehouses, ETL, data analysis, distributed low-latency databases, Databricks (Spark) and Airflow as an orchestration / scheduling tool. You will be using state of the art tools.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Provide the departments most critical set of data infrastructures like large-scale ETL processes, DWHs, stream and batch processing pipelines and large-scale high-throughput/low-latency data stores

  • Guide and support business users to identify their data needs 

  • Transform business challenges into technical requirements

  • Keep-it-simple approach, with the right amount of foresight in designing an efficient and flexible data products

  • Redesign or deprecation of legacy data models 

  • Business acumen and a strategic approach to reporting and stakeholder management

  • Start-with-yes mindset, while willing to challenge the status quo when necessary in pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement

  • Foster an inclusive & diverse team environment

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • 5+ years of overall experience in the fields of data engineering and data analytics

  • Solid experience in requirements engineering. You are the one person who will get to know what information needs business people have before they know themself

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and deploying data processing pipelines in a production environment using SQL and Python. 

  • Hands on experience with a majority of the following technologies:  Spark, Databricks, Airflow, OOP with Python, AWS, Git.

  • We encourage applications of candidates with a strong background in analytics and less experience in data engineering. 

  • You have a passion for analytics and thrive on collaborating with business partners to devise impactful data solutions.
